Cubs want another chance at Miller in Game 2

After the Chicago Cubs' powerhouse offense was unable to score against dominant Cleveland Indians reliever Andrew Miller in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday, they want another shot in Game 2.

Miller shut out the Cubs over two innings of work, but allowed four base-runners and was forced to throw 46 pitches - his most of the postseason.

"That's huge. I'm sure he's going to be a little tired," Chicago's Kris Bryant said, according to Tony Andracki of CSN Chicago. "He was doing his job, going max effort.

"Any time you can get their best guy out of the bullpen to throw a lot of pitches and have good at-bats off of him, it gives us a bunch of confidence."

Miller combined with starter Corey Kluber and closer Cody Allen to strike out 15 Cubs hitters en route to a 6-0 series-opening victory, but he didn't pitch like the player who struck out 21 over 11 2/3 innings prior to Tuesday. The Cubs believe they may be able to get to him if they get another chance in Game 2.

"I hope we (get to see him tomorrow)," shortstop Addison Russell said after Tuesday's loss. "We got beat by a pretty good ballclub today. On paper, they beat us. It leaves a sour taste in our mouth, but tomorrow's a new day."
