Kyle Schwarber cares not for your rehab assignments.

Playing in the majors for the first time since tearing two ligaments in his knee during the Chicago Cubs' third game of the season, Schwarber - serving as the Cubs' designated hitter - laced a fourth-inning two-out double off the wall in straightaway center field off Cleveland Indians starter Corey Kluber that very nearly left the ballpark. The 23-year-old's double traveled 378 feet and had an exit velocity of 96.4 mph. Despite the distance, Schwarber narrowly made it into second base standing up, as he's not running at full speed due to his injury.

He was ultimately left stranded at second when the next batter, Javier Baez, flied out to end the inning.

It was Schwarber's first big-league hit in 372 days, following up his home run off Jacob deGrom in last year's NLCS. Schwarber went 0-for-4 with a walk in two regular-season games to start 2016 before suffering the knee injury in an outfield collision with teammate Dexter Fowler on April 7.

Schwarber is the first position player in major-league history to go hitless during the regular season and then record a hit in the World Series, according to ESPN's Jayson Stark.
