A-Rod burns Pete Rose with 'elderly' joke

If Saturday's FOX Sports broadcast is any indication, Alex Rodriguez has found his niche outside of playing the game of baseball.

After Ken Rosenthal's interview with Dorothy Farrell, a 90-year-old Chicago Cubs season ticket holder who admitted she was going to celebrate the team's pennant-clinching victory with a shot of Jager, Rodriguez was quick on his feet, burning fellow broadcaster and baseball legend Pete Rose with a clever joke, leaving the all-time hits leader less than impressed.

Rodriguez technically isn't wrong, as Rose played the prime of his career from 1963-1978 when Farrell was only 40 years old. Still, it doesn't seem Rose has the same sense of humor as A-Rod, who laughed hysterically after the wisecrack.

Perhaps it was A-Rod simply evening the playing field. In a Game 5 broadcast, Rose delivered an interesting statement regarding Rodriguez's playing career, claiming Derek Jeter inspired Rodriguez when both were teammates in New York, leaving A-Rod visibly annoyed with the remark immediately afterwards.

Expect things to get even more interesting, as the two will be side by side once again for FOX Sports during the World Series, which begins Tuesday in Cleveland.
