Virginia Tech fans hang horrific Jose Fernandez sign before Miami game
Stay classy, Virginia Tech.
Ahead of Thursday's 37-16 win over Miami, some Hokies fans decorated their off-campus Blacksburg house with a horrific, ill-conceived sign that made light of the tragic death of Marlins star Jose Fernandez, who died last month along with two friends in a boating accident.

The "offensive" sign was condemned in a statement issued by the university's public affairs office, which also emphasized that the Virginia Tech community is "better than that."
"We've been made aware of an offensive sign that appears to have come from a member of our community," the statement read. "While we investigate, we want to emphasize that that this tasteless off campus sign doesn't reflect our values or those of Hokie Nation. Athletic rivalries are what make sports great, but that sort of talk has no place here. We're better than that."
