Royals' Chris Young: Has minor surgery

Young underwent surgery of his bilateral core and right-side adductor Tuesday, and he is expected to be fully recovered in eight weeks, MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan reports.

Analysis:

Essentially it was surgery on his pelvis and groin area. He will be at full strength for spring training, so this is minor news. Of his 34 appearances this year, 21 were out of the bullpen, and the gap in productivity (4.13 ERA as a reliever, 7.39 ERA as a starter) should ensure that he remains primarily a bullpen piece in 2017.
