To no one's surprise, the Texas Rangers are going to exercise Jonathan Lucroy's $5.25-million 2017 option.
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels confirmed the news to reporters on Tuesday, a day after his club was swept by the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS.
Lucroy was acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers at the trade deadline, and he batted .276/.345/.539 since coming to Arlington.
The catcher struggled in the postseason against the Blue Jays, going 1-for-12 in three games.
