Nationals GM Rizzo mum on D-Backs rumors
After making sweeping changes to their front office earlier this month, the Arizona Diamondbacks are eyeing a fellow National League executive as their new president of baseball operations.
The Diamondbacks reportedly have Washington Nationals president and general manager Mike Rizzo at the top of their wish list and plan on asking the Nationals for permission at the end of the postseason, sources told Jim Bowden of ESPN.
Rizzo still has two years remaining on his deal with the Nationals and when asked about a possible move by Bowden, Rizzo remained quiet.
"I'm focused on winning this series and nothing else," he said.
Rizzo was named general manager of the Nationals in 2009 and was promoted to president of baseball operations in 2013. Washington is currently playing in the NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Diamondbacks fired GM Dave Stewart and manager Chip Hale on Oct. 3rd after missing the playoffs for a fifth straight season.
