Report: Braves expected to name Snitker manager

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports / Reuters

The Atlanta Braves are zeroing in on a familiar face for their manager vacancy.

Brian Snitker emerged as the front-runner after a strong performance as the Braves interim manager this season and is expected to be named the permanent Braves manager within the next few days, sources told Mark Bowman of MLB.com.

Snitker was awarded the post on an interim basis May 17, and led the Braves to a 59-65 record, including a season-best 18 wins in September.

Former bench bosses Ron Washington and Bud Black were said to be heavily in the mix, but Snitker's success at the end of the season led to him emerging as the favorite.
