Kershaw, Hendricks to square off in Game 6

Geoff Burke / USA TODAY Sports

The pitching matchup for Game 6 of the National League Championship Series is set.

Kyle Hendricks will take the hill for the Chicago Cubs, pitching opposite Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw when the series heads back to Wrigley Field on Saturday.

Hendricks, the NL leader in ERA throughout the regular season, was the losing pitcher in Game 2 of the NLCS against Kershaw, allowing a lone run across 5 1/3 innings of work.

This was a breakout campaign for Hendricks, as he amassed career-best marks in ERA (2.13), innings pitched (190), strikeouts (170), ERA+ (188), and WHIP (0.98).

Kershaw, a three-time Cy Young winner and one-time MVP, pitched wonderfully in Game 2, tossing seven innings of shut-out ball, allowing just two hits.

The positive result was something new for the 28-year-old who has a poor history in the postseason.

Over the course of 17 playoff appearances - 13 starts - Kershaw owns a 4-6 record with a 4.39 ERA.
