Contrary to popular belief in the TBS production truck, Cleveland Indians rookie Tyler Naquin didn't make baseball history Thursday by simply starting in center field for Game 1 of the ALDS against the Boston Red Sox.

The network ran a graphic during one of Naquin's at-bats, claiming the 25-year-old was the "first outfielder to start (a) postseason game since 1948" in Indians history - an obviously incorrect tidbit since the Indians have played many playoff games in the 68 years since then. TBS was widely lambasted on Twitter for the error, and the mistake also caught the eye of Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander, who had some fun at the network's expense on Instagram:

Wow!! Now that's an impressive stat! Kudos to the fact checker. #congratulations #whoknew

The actual fact TBS was looking for? Naquin, a top candidate for AL Rookie of the Year honors, became the first rookie outfielder to start a playoff game for the Indians since Hall of Famer Larry Doby in the 1948 World Series - which, coincidentally, remains the Indians' most recent World Series championship.
