With the Boston Red Sox season finished, second baseman Dustin Pedroia had some time to get himself fixed up.

Pedroia underwent surgery on his left knee Thursday at Massachusetts General Hospital, the team announced.

The surgery repaired a partially torn meniscus, which the 33-year-old injured during a contest against the Toronto Blue Jays in mid-September, according to The Boston Globe's Pete Abraham.

Pedroia's batting average dropped from .330 to .318 during the stretch after the injury, including a paltry .167 against the Cleveland Indians in the American League Division Series.

It was Pedroia's sixth surgical procedure since 2007.

He is expected to be ready for spring training.
