Beltran has no plans of retiring after season

Carlos Beltran isn't ready to give up baseball just yet.

The 39-year-old, who hinted at retirement prior to, and during, the 2016 campaign, told MLB.com's TR Sullivan he plans to play at least one more season, and he hopes to do so with the Texas Rangers.

"I don’t think there is any big decision I have to make - other than to play one more year or go home," he told Zack Braziller of the New York Post this past December. "In my case, I am very happy with my career ... If I feel like I produce well to the point where I can make a good impact on a team, then I can play one more year. Or if I feel like I have (had) enough, I’ll go home."

If the Rangers don't offer Beltran a home in 2017, he will look for a job elsewhere, according to Sullivan, but retiring is not in his plans.

Beltran came to Texas from the New York Yankees at the Aug. 1 non-waiver trade deadline and went on to hit .280/.325/.451 with seven home runs and 29 RBIs during 206 plate appearances in the Lone Star State, but was just 2-for-11 in the ALDS against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Over the course of 2016, Beltran had a solid year at the dish, swatting 29 home runs and 93 RBIs with a .850 OPS.

He made $15 million last season.
