Colorado Rockies' second baseman DJ LeMahieu hasn't been forgotten by his alma mater.

LSU took out a billboard in Denver to congratulate the former Tiger on his major-league batting title.

LeMahieu, 28, hit .348 this season to narrowly edge out Washington Nationals' Daniel Murphy by one point. Rockies' manager Walt Weiss sat LeMahieu for the final two games of the season to help preserve his lead over Murphy, who was sidelined with an injury for Washington's final nine games.

With the LSU baseball program, LeMahieu helped the Tigers reach the College World Series in 2008 and 2009.

His mark this season was accomplished in 146 games, and is the highest batting-title average by a National League player since Chipper Jones won the honor in 2008 with a .364 average in 128 games.
