Mets' Bartolo Colon: Solid in playoff-clinching win

Colon (15-8) gave up two earned runs on five hits over five innings in Saturday's 5-3 victory over the Phillies. He struck out six.

Analysis:

The Mets turned to the veteran in the wild-card clinching win and he didn't disappoint, firing 44 of 61 pitches for strikes and notching a first-pitch strike on 14 of 19 hitters overall. Colon's pitch count was carefully monitored as planned with the playoffs on tap, but he encouragingly was able to rebound from a disastrous outing against the Marlins on Sep. 26. The ageless right-hander wraps up the 2016 campaign with a ninth season of at least 15 wins.
