The two teams that met in last season's American League Wild Card Game won't be doing the same in 2016 after both the New York Yankees and Houston Astros were eliminated from postseason contention Thursday.

Both teams were ruled out thanks to a Baltimore Orioles victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. At the time, the Yankees held a 5-1 lead over the division-rival Boston Red Sox during David Ortiz's final game at Yankee Stadium, while the Astros had an off day.

New York finished Thursday with an 83-76 record with three games left to play against the Orioles. Houston also sits 83-76 with three games left to close out the season against the Los Angeles Angels.
