X-rays on Trout's shoulder return negative
The Los Angeles Angels were able to breathe a massive sigh of relief Thursday as X-rays on superstar Mike Trout's shoulder returned negative.
Trout was taken for tests after leaving Wednesday's game against the Oakland Athletics in the eighth inning when he was hit in the left shoulder by a pitch from reliever John Axford.
Trout is expected to suit up for the Angels on Friday against the Houston Astros, according to the Orange County Register's Jeff Fletcher.
The 25-year-old has been on another tear in 2016, making himself once again a strong contender for the American League MVP award.
In 156 games this season with the Angels, Trout is batting .318/.441/.556 with 29 home runs and 99 RBIs. He's one home run and three stolen bases shy of his second 30-30 season of his career.
