Red Sox's Dustin Pedroia: Not in lineup Thursday

Pedroia is out of the lineup for Thursday's matchup against the Yankees, Evan Drellich of the Boston Herald reports.

Analysis:

Thursday will mark Pedroia's second absence during the month of September. Now that the Red Sox have clinched the AL East, they can afford to let the 33-year-old have a day or two off as they prepare for their playoff run. Deven Marrero will make a rare appearance and start in place of Pedroia at second base.
