The state of Massachusetts is going to one-up all of baseball in terms of David Ortiz tributes, but the Boston Red Sox veteran won't be able to take this one to his house.

Gov. Charlie Baker and the state House and Senate have reportedly put forth a joint proposal to rename the Brookline Avenue bridge, which spans the Massachusetts Turnpike, the "David Ortiz (Big Papi) Bridge," according to masslive's Gintautas Dumcius.

Located between Landsdowne Street and Newbury Street, the bridge is a short walk from Fenway Park.

"David Ortiz's accomplishments and heroics on and off the baseball field have made him a living legend, and his heartfelt contributions to the communities here and in his native Dominican Republic have made him an icon," Baker said.

Members of the state's House Ways and Means Committee will vote on the measure and the House is expected to take it up Friday.
