Braves' Mike Foltynewicz: Finishes 2016 with victory over Phillies
Foltynewicz (9-5) pitched five strong innings, allowing just one run on two hits and three walks while striking out five Phillies in Wednesday's win.
Analysis:
In the final start of his third MLB season, the 24-year-old notched his fifth straight win. Foltynewicz's best month was his first of the campaign (3.51 ERA in May), but he admirably endured the ups-and-downs of learning to be a mainstay in a big league rotation. Having enjoyed the most work he's ever received, Foltynewicz was able to set new career highs in wins (9) and strikeouts (111) while managing the best ERA (4.31) and WHIP (1.31) of his young career.
