Blue Jays' Francisco Liriano: Stellar in final start of regular season

Liriano threw 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing six hits and one walk while striking out 10 Orioles in Wednesday's no-decision.

Analysis:

The 32-year-old notched his highest strikeout total since being traded to the Blue Jays in early August. Following Liriano's move north of the border, the veteran managed a 3.35 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 43 innings, versus a 5.46 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 113.2 innings with the Pirates. Liriano finished strong, notching quality starts in his last four outings of 2016, but was victimized by little run support and blown saves. If the Jays can crack the playoffs, it appears Liriano is primed for an October run.
