Tim Tebow's professional baseball career is off to a pretty good start.

The former quarterback, playing in his first game with the New York Mets' instructional league club on Wednesday, took the first pitch from St. Louis Cardinals prospect John Kilichowski for a ride to the opposite field for his first professional home run.

Though the crowd wasn't close to the 70,000 or so screaming football fans Tebow might be used to, the small gathering of 269 spectators at the Mets' complex gave him a large ovation as he rounded the bases to meet his excited teammates at home plate.

The 29-year-old, who played left field for five innings, finished his day 1-for-5 at the plate.
