Pirates' Ryan Vogelsong: Struggles with command in loss to Cubs
Vogelsong (3-7) lasted five innings, allowing four runs, four hits and five walks while striking out five Cubs in Tuesday's loss.
Analysis:
Saying he struggled with his command would be an understatement, as Vogelsong managed to throw just half of his 101 pitches for strikes. His five walks were a season high, and the most free passes Vogelsong has issued since June of last year. If the Pirates were still in contention, it's unlikely the 39-year-old veteran would have even been allowed to stick it out for five full innings. Vogelsong is slated to start the season finale in St. Louis on Sunday.
