Tigers' Francisco Rodriguez: Implodes in ninth inning Saturday

Rodriguez (3-4) uncharacteristically fell apart in the ninth inning Saturday against the Royals, giving up five earned runs on four hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning. He also recorded a strikeout.

Analysis:

The veteran closer blew his fifth save of the season by giving up a two-run double to Paulo Orlando and a three-run homer to Eric Hosmer. Rodriguez had posted five straight scoreless outings and converted seven consecutive save opportunities before Saturday and is now 44-for-49 in save chances on the season.
