Scully calls retirement ceremony one of his greatest moments

A moment 67 years in the making touched Vin Scully like few before.

The legendary Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster was honored by the club for his almost seven decades of service Friday night during a pregame ceremony that included Clayton Kershaw, Sandy Koufax, Kevin Costner, Ron Manfred, and others.

Scully reflected on the celebration Saturday and ranked the festivities among the top experiences of his 88 years on earth.

"One of the greatest moments in our - I mean my wife and myself - lifetime was last night when all the hoopla was over and we were walking back towards the dugout and the players were lined up one on each side," Scully said. "As I walked down, I turned to my wife and said, 'It feels like we're getting married again.' Really, it was a charming moment."

Scully joked that when he retires at the end of the season, the first thing he'll do is take his watch off and put it in a drawer. He added that he's looking forward to being able to view Dodgers games as a fan.

"I have nothing but hopes and happiness for them (Dodgers)," Scully said. "I can just go back - I don't have to worry about being impartial. I can sit and root like everybody else."
