Astros' Ken Giles: Struck in wrist by line drive

Giles was struck in the right wrist by a line drive during batting practice Saturday, the Houston Chronicle reports. "It wasn't good," manager A.J. Hinch said. "It looked like the ball off of the bat hit him pretty hard, so he was already starting to bruise in the wrist area. He'll be taken in."

Analysis:

Giles was in right field with other Astros pitchers going through his usual pregame routine at the time he was struck. At this point, it's unclear if he suffered any structural damage, but the closer appeared to be in severe pain and had to be carted off the field. Giles, who struggled in Friday's 10-6 loss to the Angels, will obviously not be available for Saturday's game and should be considered day-to-day until further notice.
