Vin Scully was honored in a ceremony prior to Friday's contest between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies at Dodger Stadium, and among the many in attendance to pay tribute to the legendary broadcaster, perhaps none stood out more than Clayton Kershaw and Sandy Koufax.

Widely considered two of the most dominant left-handed pitchers to ever wear Dodgers blue and white, the pair had nothing but kind words for Scully, who was brought to tears during the emotional ceremony.

"As many times as I've been on this field, I don't think I have ever been this nervous," the 80-year-old Koufax said of being in attendance for Scully's ceremony. "It was a strange phenomenon to be on the field and hear the broadcast come out of the stands. He entertained and educated."

Koufax jokingly added, "Before the World Series, Vin would go to church and pray, not for a win, but so that there would be only heroes, not goats."

Kershaw expressed gratitude for Scully and his 67 years of service on the microphone.

"When we retire and we don't have this game any more, we'll always have your voice. So thank you for that," the Dodgers ace said. "Thank you for painting a picture for us and our families."

Scully will retire at season's end after being part of some of baseball's most memorable moments, including Kirk Gibson's dramatic World Series walk-off home run on October 15, 1988, which was voted the No. 1 call of Scully's career.
