Byron Buxton got some serious air Friday night to rob Seattle Mariners slugger Nelson Cruz of a potential home run in the game's third inning.
After Cruz belted a fly ball to deep center, Buxton used his speed to track down the ball and finished the play with a tremendous leaping grab.
The outfielder's first step was clocked at 0.47 seconds, and he covered 94 feet with a route efficiency of 98.3 percent on the play, according to Statcast.
Buxton received a nice slow clap of gratitude from starting pitcher Kyle Gibson, who was thankful his teammate pulled the ball back in.
