David Ortiz continued to cement his name among the legends of baseball Friday, hammering an offering from Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Chris Archer off the catwalk at Tropicana Field.

With the two-run blast, the Boston Red Sox slugger tied Lou Gehrig for the 10th-most extra-base hits in MLB history.

He also recorded his 124th RBI, which is the most in a player's final season since RBIs became an official stat in 1920, according to ESPN Stats & Info. The previous record was held by Shoeless Joe Jackson.

Ortiz has always been a fan of hitting against the Rays, too. The home run was the 53rd of his career against Tampa Bay, which is tied for his third-most against any single opponent, according to ESPN Stats & Info. The only player with more dingers against the Rays is Alex Rodriguez (56).
