Ender Inciarte couldn't get this one.

One night after Yoenis Cespedes' bid for a walk-off home run was foiled by the Atlanta Braves' intrepid center fielder, the New York Mets were treated to some fully realized ninth-inning heroics from shortstop Jose Reyes, who erased a late two-run deficit with a mammoth home run off Philadelphia Phillies closer Jeanmar Gomez.

According to ESPN's Mark Simon, that was first time Reyes, now in his 14th season in the big leagues, homered to tie a game in the ninth inning or later.

Re-acquired by the Mets in June after being released by the Colorado Rockies following a domestic incident, Reyes entered Thursday's series finale with a 773 OPS and seven homers in 51 games this year, but hit just .167/.242/.333 in his last seven contests.
