Padres' Derek Norris: Out of Thursday's lineup

Norris is not in the lineup Thursday against the Giants.

Analysis:

Now that the Pacific Coast League playoffs are done, former catching prospect Austin Hedges has rejoined the major league squad coming off of a breakout season in the minors. With this in mind, Norris will cede Thursday's start to him and very well could sit out of more contests down the stretch as the Padres evaluate if Hedges can hold his own at the plate and be San Diego's catcher of the future.
