Kazmir exits after 19 pitches with intercostal injury

A mere four hours after the Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated left-hander Scott Kazmir from the 15-day disabled list, the pitcher was forced to exit his start Friday against the Colorado Rockies after just 19 pitches because of intercostal spasms.

Kazmir was replaced by Ross Stripling.

The 32-year-old Kazmir had spent close to a month battling thoracic spine inflammation - while also dealing with a blister issue - before making Friday's start.

Kazmir has given L.A. 25 starts during his first season with the club, posting a 4.59 ERA and 1.35 WHIP.
