Blue Jays to play Pirates in Montreal next spring

Eric Bolte / USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Blue Jays will partner with the city of Montreal for a fourth straight spring in 2017, to host a pair of exhibition games at Olympic Stadium.

Toronto will play the Pittsburgh Pirates at the Big O on both March 31 and April 1, according to the Montreal Gazette, with tickets going on sale Oct. 1.

The partnership between the Blue Jays and Montreal has been an extreme success. Over 100,000 fans packed the Expos' former home earlier this spring to watch the Blue Jays drop a pair of games to the Boston Red Sox.

Pittsburgh becomes the third National League club to take part in the event, joining the Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets.

The Expos played in Montreal from 1969 until 2004, before moving to Washington and becoming the Nationals.
