One day after the New York Mets announced right-hander Jacob deGrom was likely done for the season, fans of the franchise presumably held their collective breathe when Yoenis Cespedes left the game early against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.

Cespedes, who has spent much of September dealing with a sore quad, left the contest prior to the beginning of the seventh inning with what was later classified as nausea and dizziness.

He was replaced by teammate Brandon Nimmo after going 1-for-2 with a double.

The Mets ended up winning the contest 3-2, pushing them two games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals for one of the two wild-card spots in the National League, but the loss of Cespedes for an extended period of time could be detrimental to the club.

The 30-year-old Cuban is hitting .288/.357/.551 this season, and currently leads the team in home runs (30), RBIs (81), and OPS (.908).
