Watch: Flores injured during home-plate collision
New York Mets infielder Wilmer Flores left Saturday's game in the eighth inning with a neck injury after a scary collision with Atlanta Braves catcher A.J. Pierzynski.
X-Rays taken after the game came back negative, despite Flores saying he "felt really weird and dizzy" immediately following the collision.
"I'm just really sore, my neck and back," Flores told ESPN's Adam Rubin. "I feel a lot of pain right now."
Mets manager Terry Collins went as far to say the decision not to pinch run for Flores cost them the game, as Collins admitted he was distracted deciding who would pitch the following inning.
"I should have ran for him there," Collins said. "I was trying to get the pitching set up. (It's) my fault that he's going to have a stiff neck. But we certainly have enough guys. We could have ran for him, which we should have."
With the loss, the Mets saw their six-game win streak snapped, and fell out of the second National League wild-card spot with both the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants winning Saturday.
