Cubs' John Lackey: Named Sunday's starter

Lackey (shoulder) will officially return to the rotation Sunday against Johnny Cueto and the Giants, ESPN's Jesse Rogers reports.

Analysis:

The hope all along was that Lackey would be ready to come off the DL to start the series finale against the Giants, and the Cubs announced Friday that he will indeed make that start. This will push Mike Montgomery back to the bullpen, as the Cubs' rotation is back to full strength. Lackey has a 3.41 ERA and 156 strikeouts in 158.1 innings this season, but surprisingly he only has nine wins to show for it, despite playing on the best team in baseball.
