Cubs' Chris Coghlan: Set to return Thursday

Coghlan (ribs) is expected to come off the DL on Thursday, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.

Analysis:

On his rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa, Coghlan has gone 8-for-17 over five games. However, It's unlikely that Coghlan will see an increase in time on the field once he comes off the DL. Coghlan's line of .165/.261/.288 simply doesn't justify greater usage and the Cubs' depth gives them plenty of more formidable options everywhere on the field.
