Mets' Seth Lugo: Deals six strong innings Tuesday
Lugo (2-2) threw six solid innings in a start against Miami on Tuesday, allowing a pair of runs on five hits and a walk, earning the win. He struck out four.
Analysis:
Lugo has been solid in his three starts since earning a starting role, going 2-1 with a 2.55 ERA. Lugo, a 26-year-old rookie, was certainly not expected to start games for the Mets this season, but with Matt Harvey lost for the season and Steven Matz still on the DL with a shoulder injury, Lugo has made the most of his opportunity. He has 28 strikeouts in 34.2 innings, a respectable if not outstanding number backed up by a 8.7 K/9 minor league rate. Lugo likely won't see many more starts going forward, however, as the Mets are hoping Steven Matz will return next week.
