Nationals' Max Scherzer: Dominant for second straight start
Scherzer (15-7) struck out 11 while holding the Phillies to two runs on three hits and a walk over eight innings in Tuesday's 3-2 win.
Analysis:
This was Scherzer's second straight dominant outing after he allowed just two hits in eight shutout innings last time out against the Orioles. His lone blemish was a seventh-inning two-run homer by Ryan Howard, but the Nationals ace still managed to pad his incredible strikeout rate (11.3 K/9) and WHIP (0.91). Atlanta's subpar offense is unlikely to trouble the streaking Scherzer in his next start Monday.
