Twins' Danny Santana: Placed on 15-day DL

Santana (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day DL following Sunday's 9-6 loss to the Blue Jays, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Santana exited in the top half of the first inning with an AC sprain in his right shoulder, which he sustained during an outfield collision with teammate Robbie Grossman. The Twins' medical staff quickly determined that Santana's injury was more than a day-to-day concern, so he'll head to the DL in order for the team to bring aboard Logan Schafer from Triple-A Rochester as outfield depth. There's still a possibility that Santana could rejoin the Twins later in September if his rehab goes smoothly.
