Red Sox's David Price: Gets ERA below 4.00

Price allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings in Boston's 8-3 win over Kansas City on Saturday.

Analysis:

A big start for Price, who stopped Boston's three-game losing streak while lowering his season ERA, which stood at 6.75 in May, to 3.97. The improved velocity and location of his fastball, which in turn has led to a corresponding improvement in his changeup, have fueled Price's best stretch of the season. He's allowed just 13 earned runs over 48 innings (2.44 ERA), over his last seven starts. The signs are there that he's pitching like a pitcher upon whom the Red Sox lavished $30 million per year in the offseason.
