Nationals' A.J. Cole: Solid in Saturday start
Cole didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's start versus the Nationals, giving up three earned runs on four hits, three walks and a wild pitch over 5.2 innings. He struck out four.
Analysis:
The rookie acquitted himself well against a potent Rockies offense, notching 15 swinging strikes overall and lasting 112 pitches. He endured some problems in the third and fourth innings, surrendering a solo homer to Charlie Blackmon, allowing Nolan Arenado to score on a wild pitch and then giving up an RBI single to opposing starter Jorge De La Rosa. Cole is scheduled to next take the mound Friday versus the Mets.
