Ruiz's late-inning miscues lead to loss in Dodgers debut

Carlos Ruiz's debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers presumably didn't go as well as planned.

The catcher let two balls get by him during a crucial situation in the top of the ninth inning against the Chicago Cubs on Friday, which eventually resulted in a loss for his new club.

With the Dodgers holding a one-run lead heading into the ninth and Jason Heyward on second base after a leadoff double, Ruiz failed to grasp two separate pitches from closer Kenley Jansen.

The two defensive miscues allowed Heyward to advance to third, and eventually home, tying the game at four.

Half an inning later, Cubs phenom Kris Bryant belted his second home run of the game to seal the victory for his team.

Ruiz was acquired Thursday from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for clubhouse staple A.J. Ellis in a trade that was unpopular among Ellis' now former Dodgers teammates.

Even though Ruiz managed to get on base three times in his debut, his defensive miscues were buzzing on social media.
