Jones exits after 1st inning with hamstring strain

Tommy Gilligan / USA TODAY Sports

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones was forced to leave Friday's game against the New York Yankees after exiting with a left hamstring strain in the first inning, the team announced.

Jones initially left Thursday's game against the Washington Nationals in the ninth inning after suffering cramps in his hamstring. He was deemed healthy enough to start and bat leadoff Friday against the Yankees, but appeared to re-aggravate the ailment while legging out a slow groundout to third.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter later told reporters postgame that Jones felt good all day prior to the at-bat, and that he doesn't expect his star outfielder to require a stint on the disabled list for the injury.

Jones was replaced in center field by Nolan Reimold.
