Scherzer makes awkward between-the-legs play

There was nothing natural about this play.

In Thursday's game against the Baltimore Orioles, Washington Nationals right-hander Max Scherzer was dealing. But in the fifth inning, his athleticism was put to the test.

Jonathan Schoop tried to do some damage with his team down 1-0, hitting a ball semi-hard back to the mound.

Scherzer must've thought it was going to come at him a lot harder, so he turned his back and fielded the ball between his legs. The only problem was the ball took a bit longer to get there, and Scherzer got the shaky leg as he made the awkward stop.
