Astros' Luis Valbuena: Successfully undergoes surgery

Valbuena successfully underwent hamstring surgery Thursday, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Analysis:

The move to go under the knife spelled the end of Valbuena's season, but everything went as expected and he should be ready to go by the start of spring training. The 30-year-old will enter free agency coming off one of the better seasons of his career, as he slashed .260/.357/.459 to go along with 13 home runs and 40 RBI.
