Report: Tebow lands apparel deal with Adidas

Tim Tebow's pursuit of a professional baseball career has apparently secured him another big-name endorsement, as ESPN's Darren Rovell reports the former NFL quarterback signed a multi-year apparel deal with Adidas ahead of Tuesday's major-league workout.

Tebow smashed a homer, ran a 60-year dash, and drew mixed reviews for his highly publicized showcase in Los Angeles, where at least 27 teams flocked to watch the 29-year-old audition for an MLB job. Scouts said the 6-foot-3, 255-pound former college star showed impressive speed - he was reportedly timed between 6.6 and 6.8 seconds in the dash - but looked below average during fielding and throwing drills, according to Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times.

Last week, Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins told reporters Tebow has an "amazing swing," though scouts said he struggled to hit off-speed pitches thrown during live batting practice.

Sources told Rovell that Tebow, who reportedly earned $300,000 per year from Nike during the height of his football career, has remained engaged with shoe and athletic apparel companies, but that his career change re-energized endorsement talks. Terms of the deal with Adidas were not disclosed.

Meanwhile, Tebow's representatives told Scout.com's Taylor Blake Ward that at least five or six major-league teams have expressed some level of interest in signing him. It was reported Monday that Tebow, the 25th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, already has one offer of employment from a winter-league team in Venezuela.

"The goal would be to have a career in the big leagues," Tebow said after his workout. "I just want to be someone to pursue what I believe in, what I'm passionate about."
