Giants' Denard Span: Goes yard in loss Tuesday

Span hit his eighth home run of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers.

Analysis:

While the two-out home run in the top of the ninth didn't matter for the Giants, it certainly helped Span's fantasy owners who received his third home run over his last seven games. He has been red-hot in the month of August, slashing .345/.356/.540 in 91 plate appearances. While he is unlikely to keep up this power surge, there is no reason he should be available in any roto league, at least until his bat cools off.
