Tuesday marked just the second time this season, and the first since June 17, in which Ventura tossed six-plus scoreless innings. The effort earned the right-hander a season-best fourth straight quality start and lowered his ERA to 4.27, his best mark since April 30. Even more noteworthy is Ventura's improved control of late -- in his last three starts, the 25-year-old owns a 22:4 K:BB over 19.1 innings.
