Cubs' Jon Lester: Notches 14th win against Padres
Lester (14-4) allowed a run on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over six innings in a win Monday over the Padres.
Analysis:
Lester extended his quality start streak to five games with Monday's start, and he has struck out at least six batters and walked two or fewer in each of those five starts. He is 4-0 in that span and has lowered his ERA to 2.81. Pitchers like Noah Syndergaard and Max Scherzer have better peripherals this season, but Lester's excellent surface numbers could place him the Cy Young conversation, especially if he keeps pitching like this down the stretch.
