It didn't take long for Yulieski Gurriel to make a good first impression.

The 32-year-old rookie, who was called up by the Houston Astros on Saturday, got his first hit in his first major-league at-bat Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles, ripping a single to center off Yovani Gallardo during the second inning.

The former Cuban league star exited his debut in the eighth due to right hamstring tightness, though the injury isn't believed to be serious.

Gurriel was signed by the Astros on July 16, after batting .335/.417/.580 with 250 home runs, 308 doubles, and 1,108 RBIs across 15 season in the Cuban league.
